Internet fraud refers to the use of Internet services to present fraudulent solicitations to prospective victims, to conduct fraudulent transactions, or to transmit the proceeds of fraud to financial institutions or to others connected with the scheme.

Internet fraud can occur in chat rooms, email, message boards or on websites.

Purchase frauds

Purchase fraud occurs when a criminal approaches a merchant and proposes a business transaction, and then uses fraudulent means to pay for it, such as a stolen or fake credit card. As a result, merchants do not get paid for the sale. Merchants who accept credit cards may receive a chargeback for the transaction and lose money as a result.

I think someone is doing internet fraud, what can I do to protecct myself from recent fraud acts?
Q. Something is seriously wrong I think my ID has been used for fraud, and I have a feeling my network has been used by hackers who have done fraud to my identity. What ever happened had to have happen within the past two weeks, so what can I do to find out what happened and how do I protect myself against this kind of activity?

A. You don't state why you believe these things to have been done. Call the DMV and report that you believe your id has been used for fraud. IF you still have the id, how were they able to get their hands on it and use it? Most places have cameras, so can easily see if it was you or someone else using your id. The Id can be flagged and it can help you identify if someone is doing something illegal with it. You need to know why you believe this.. and you need to know how it could happen if the ID is still in your possession. You are liable to an extent if you know it is occurring and do nothing about it. Next, if you know it is happening, go to the police station and file a report.

What degree can a brand new paralegal pursue to get involved with fighting cybercrimes and internet fraud?
Q. I want to go for my Bachelor Degree next. Most criminal justice programs only offer one or two classes on the subject and get more into chemistry and other things...not that this is uninteresting, just a tangent. It does not seem like a big specialty anywhere. The world really needs this now.

A. Computer Science. IT. Computer Operations. BUT... Choosing a career is one of life's most important and difficult decisions. The legal profession is dramatically changing and is in absolute CRISIS!!! Job searching in this vocational field has changed drastically in the last five years. And, every year, more and more people graduate from law school, but there are fewer and fewer jobs. Even the largest and most reputable law firms are experiencing unprecedented cutbacks. I don't expect the situation to improve in the coming years... Be aware of what you are proposing on getting yourself into. Please do more research first. Reminder: We are in a World-wide Recession. Consider career paths that have available JOBS.<<< Warning> … [cont.]

A. That is one of the 419 Scam proliferating in the internet.Just ignore them if you didn't give your identity to them.If in case they know already your name and address, better report it to the police. Try typing 419 Scam in the web search, and you'll find out that there are already so many victims of this kind. Next time be careful.
