  • The idea of content is today mainly a hindrance, a nuisance, a subtle or not so subtle philistinism. . . it is the habit of approaching works of art in order to interpret them that sustains the fancy that there really is such a thing as the content of a work of art.

How should Newspaper monetize their online content? Is it fair to use their content on Twitter or Facebook?
Q. These days different people and web portals just pick the news clipping and put on different websites like Facebook and twitter without the permission of actual content owner and in some cases earn money from someone else's content. Actual content owners (in this case news papers spend so much money to get the actualy content and their content is used by someone else without any extra benefit to them.

A. Well this is just theft. I work for a regional newspaper in the UK and it isn't cheap reporting local news, it's very labour intensive. Even relatively short stories have to be researched, people interviewed, facts checked etc. It is difficult for newspapers to monetise their content as many internet users have got used to not paying for content.

How to apply a content management system to a website made in Dreamweaver?
Q. Hello, I've recently put together a simple website (designed in photoshop/ sliced/ dreamweaver) for a local charity, but am unsure how to help them update their site and upload pictures themselves. I've heard of content management systems but have no idea how they work, which one to go for or how to apply them to my designs. Does it have to be designed in a certain way, or built in to the original? Any help would be much appreciated :) xxx

A. I had been using both Joomla and Mambo CMS. If you had already designed it on dreamweaver it only needs some small tweaks on your code.. Put all your images in a single folder, all css files in a single folder then you have to create an XML file which lists down all your files with there respective location (images, CSS, HTML, PHP, etc).. Whew! too long to discuss... Just follow this link:

How do I load different content in Dreamweaver without loading new page?
Q. I'm developing a website using Dreamweaver CS3, the pages all have the same wudgets on (flickr & twitter) and as a result, I'd prefer that the whole page not need to reload when user clicks on navigation. Is there a way that I could have only part of the page load different content?
